IELTS Guru on Introduction to Discussion Essay.

Вводная часть дискуссионного эссе отличается от интро аргумент-эссе в том, что там не дается одна точка зрения, а готовится почва, чтобы обсудить разные позиции и лишь потом сделать выбор в ту или иную сторону.  Первые два предложения Introduction of Discussion Essay совпадают с первыми предложениями аргументационного эссе. Однако, в дискуссионном райтинге третье предложение сводится к сравнению/представлению позиций, которые будут рассматриваться в самом эссе. Четвертое предложение, в свою очередь, это уже пойнтер.

Рассмотрим на похожую тему, которая рассматривалась в предыдущем посте – “Some people think that taking a gap year can be beneficial for high school graduates, whereas others find this practice useless. Discuss both points of view and state which one you think is better and why. Include any relevant examples and reasons to support your answer”.

The twenty-first century has witnessed vast education opportunities for high school graduates across the globe. However, given the complex nature of choosing future professional or academic ambitions, it can be difficult for many to make the right career choice right away. In this regard, it has been often suggested that taking some time off upon graduation can help young people. However, some critics refute this notion saying that this practice is useless. This essay is aimed at analyzing both points of view and drawing a reasoned conclusion.
