More on Homophones - Post N74

Homophones can be very tricky to an untrained ear. Let alone trying to differentiate the fine nuances in meaning. Here is some food for thought. 

1) heir (наследник) and air (воздух) are pronounced the same. So, how can we tell the difference? Context, of course. Very often, if not always, context is king in English sentences.

2) cereal (хлопья) and serial (серийный).
You ever wondered why cereal boxes do not have serial numbers?
Or, maybe why serial killers do not include cereal in their menu?

3) mourning (печаль или скорьбь) или morning (утро)

He felt anguish in the morning

The Day of national mourning was declared yesterday
